SpeedCareSteam generator iron

Due to break down of my previous steam generator I Replaced it with the new Philips. Love it to bits! Only thing that preferred with my old one is that the water tak was removable and could be filled up easy as just removing it from the station and filled in the kitchen. But otherwise it is an amazing iron

Normally the phrase 'pile of ironing' has me running for the hills, a tedious task at the best of times. I was keen to see if the new steam generator iron would really be up to the task of thick work shirts and trousers and the dreaded mounds of bedding. It arrived securely packaged with easy to follow instructions for setting it up. The iron itself has a brilliant easy glide hotplate which I particularly like and straightforward controls with a shaped front that can fit between button holes. The steam button is underneath the handle, again simple to use. I wonder whether the addition of a steam button lock would be a useful function to add to this model? The iron heated up swiftly and within minutes steam was produced as promised from the large capacity tank. To have a tank that takes over a litre of water really does cut down on time spent refilling a regular steam iron and manages to tackle a very considerable pile of ironing without the need for refilling. I got through a large amount of ironing quicker as the steam/heat penetrates to the back of the shirts-something other irons have not done. Overall I am happy with and impressed with this product-I may not be an ironing convert-but neither do I feel the need to run for the hills when the ironing beckons!

As I took the iron out of the box I noticed it looked a good size with a generous water tank. At first it seemed that the iron itself felt heavier than my previous one until I compared the two together and it was in fact a lot lighter. The first thing I noticed was how neat and sleek it was and with plenty of steam holes. I found the water tank easy to fill and it can be used with tap water so no bottles of distilled water to buy as I have done in the past. Once filled with water and switched on it came to temperature very quickly.There is a switch at the back on the back of the tank that switches the iron on, and a blue neon light that glows to let you know it is switched on. Once I started ironing with the steam button under the handle de-pressed - this will also stop the steam if you release the button- another good safety feature. I was amazed at the speed it got rid of the creases, I even scrunched up a part of a shirt to make more creases to see how it performed- they were gone in a flash. I may say the washing I was ironing had been around for a couple of days so not fresh off the line. The iron has a very good tip at the front for getting into spaces such as folds. One other thing I like is the groove around the edge to get around buttons. The iron comes with a generous amount of hose for the steam to come through and also a good amount of power cable. The water hose can be put into a small storage are on the side of the iron when the ironing is finished and it is also a good in which to place your fingers whilst emptying the water tank. One of two other excellent features is the lock button on the top of the water tank so it can hold the iron securely when putting it away or getting it out. The other feature I like is the Calc button that every 3 months of use will emit a bleep to tell you it is time to de-calc the iron.It will, on hearing the bleep disable the iron after one hour. A tray to put under the iron is provided to allow the calcium to fall into it, saving a lot of mess! I have not had an iron generator before and this one from Philips is excellent at a very good price . I am very impressed with the Philips Speedcare iron generator it gave a very professional finish to the ironing and I would certainly recommend it to anyone.

I had a very old iron which I have had for many years, and after the steam function becoming unreliable, and ending up with a sore wrist after ironing more than a few items, I decided to replace it. This Philips Speed Care Iron is brilliant! The iron itself is very lightweight, and sits on a base unit which you fill with water instead of the iron. This means you can fill it with much more water to begin with, so don't need to keep re-topping up the iron. The iron can lock onto the base unit with the simple press of a button, and you can carry and store the iron and base as one unit - so much easier. The base & iron weighs less than my old iron alone! All in all ironing has been made so much easier and faster with this iron...it even looks much nicer than my old iron! If you are thinking about getting this iron, get it - you wont be disappointed! The steam function is, quite frankly, brilliant! I had got so used to my old iron and the steam function clearly being mediocre when it worked, but this is amazing. It cuts down ironing time dramatically and just cuts through creases so easily.

So I got my iron today and couldn't wait to crack on with the ironing! When I removed it from the package, my first thought was, it's huge and the actual iron felt heavier than my previous iron. However, this was all outweighed by my experience of ironing. My final negative was that it was quite bulky to fill from the tap and it didn't come with a jug to refill and when you press the steam button it makes a little strange noise, but got used to this after the first couple. So onto the positives. My ironing took half the time. The iron never lost steam so made the overall performance excellent and always at the same standard. It was easy to control the steam and made easy work of all items. My linen trousers were a breeze to iron. I also noticed that when I was ironing the iron did not seem as heavy as my old iron and my initial thoughts about the weight were wrong. I am looking forward to my next ironing pile, as I no longer had to go back and forth to top up the water jug. The cable was nice and long, so could reach to the end of the ironing board. Highly recommend this product, as a first time user of this this type of steam iron..

A real life changer!" I do not look forward to my weekly marathon ironing session every week but this fabulous iron has made it so much better. Quick, easy to use and awesome results. My ironing time has been significantly reduced as the iron glides effortlessly across the clothes and gets them crease free quickly due to the amazing steam that it emits. Easy to fill, easy to store. I will never look back or go back to my old iron again. Thanks Philips, a weekly chore has become one I adore!

I received my Steam Generator Iron with no problems and very fast delivery on Friday , my first impression was total excitement , I opened the packaging to find the iron very well packaged and secure inside . Once I removed all packaging I was surprised how compact the generator Iron is , I got set up and filled the tank to maximum level . I usually iron my family's clothing once a week so have a good pile to iron each week . I had a good couple hours worth of ironing , which usually I'm dreading to iron , I have back problems and with standing for a short amount of time I suffer with horrendous pain . The Iron heated up within minutes and I was ready to go , the ease of how it just glides over the clothes leaving the item crease free was just amazing , no repeat stokes , the item was ironed within seconds , jeans no problem again , shirts done in a minute . I completed 2 hours worth of ironing in less than 50 minutes , a miracle for me , my back pain was not as painful and was all down to this amazing iron . I just love how you don't need to keep refilling the water compartment , love how it glides along clothes . It also has a clever self clean option that I am yet to try but will report back on this later . The iron also has a compartment were you can store the cord for easy storage which is also a fantastic feature . The design of the iron is simple but stylish , just perfect . This Steam Generator iron has to be the best iron I have ever used and I would recommend to everybody , it makes ironing a pleasure rather than a chore ,I am so impressed by this Iron , have already told the world how amazing it is and to be truthful I can't wait for my next load of ironing , thank you Philips for creating such a fantastic Iron

I must admit I was a bit skeptical about an iron that could make the task that bit quicker… Looks like I underestimated the power of steam! As with all things new I just hoped that it wouldn't be too complicated and I wouldn't have to spend 4 hours reading a manual to get going. Not the case, about 30 seconds reading the instructions and off I went. I chose to fill the tank by using a small jug – next time I will be using the tap. (I’m so use to using a small jug with our old iron it didn't actually occur to me to fill direct from the tap… until my partner pointed this out). My biggest nightmare is shirts… I can spend 15 minutes ironing away and still those creases don’t shift… This is where the stream really impressed me and perhaps I got a bit ‘trigger happy’. The ‘triple precision tip’ is incredibly pointed so really helped to get into the tricky bits such as pleats. I managed to almost half my time with the shirts. In fact, my partner became intrigued and decided to finish off his own shirts. I did accidentally iron over a small bit of print on a t-shirt and was expecting to see a horrid mess on the base - all clear! The cable is just that bit longer meaning no need to use an extension lead (which is dangerous!). Before I’d seen it I was worried it may be too big and bulky for our kitchen. It’s actually a good compact size! Even the lead tucked in neatly after use. I’m accident prone and guess what – the iron locks to the water tank making it easy to move. I can honestly say this is the best iron I've used. I don't think there is anything I would change about it. Maybe a smaller version i.e. smaller water unit for a single person or couple. This is perfect for a family with a lot of ironing to do - like mine.

For someone who always puts ironing at the bottom of the chore list I was excited to open the box when my steam generator iron arrived to something that I hoped would make my life a whole lot easier. The item was well packaged but not lots of unnecessary packaging, a bit of a sore point with me, so far so good. The instructions were easy to follow and set up was quick. This iron is just so easy to use and light weight too. I was surprised that I did actually do my ironing in less time than normal simply because I didn’t have to go over things again, the creases came out first time. I actually think I may have found something to speed things up. As someone with a bad back, less time stood still ironing is an absolute godsend. Storage is perfect, as it is compact, it fits nicely into the storage area for my old iron. I didn’t have to find more space. I am not dreading the next time I have to do some ironing now, infact, I am quite looking forward to it! I would gladly recommend the Philips SteamCare Steam Generator to anyone, especially busy mums whose time is precious.

I'm one of the rare people who enjoy ironing! and enjoy it even more with this,for starters the tank is large enough that you can use plenty of steam to really press clothes without constantly filling up and when you do fill its easy,also plenty of power to the steam.the ceramic plate plate heats up quick and is very smooth.so even if you view ironing as a chore you could do a great job very quickly. next to talk is build quality shows here some nice details like the cable storage,and its a very comfortable grip also got the weight right in the handset. worth mentioning the carry lock too good safety feature and practical I also like the simple design rather than add unnecessary functions and buttons
