This TV has a great picture compared to all the other TVs I looked at in comparison and I love the ambilight feature.

This 4K tv with the latest 2016 frills such as HEVC, HDR and Android, is being sold for up to 40% off retail. At such a low price, I can forgive the slightly dim 300-nit screen, which I find is the only major shortcoming. A previous review mentions limited app availability as it isn't a full android system but I think the firmware version I have my set on is fully functional with apps on Google Play Store. In fact, I use the optical digital output daily and it works fine with my AV amp, so the previous poor review needs to be attributed to taken with a pinch of salt. Overall, this is a competent 4K tv that hopefully gets better with firmware updates. As it is now, if you can get a good discount, I think the set lowers the barrier to entry to the world of 4K goodness!

Being an Andriod, expect it to be able to load most of the andriod apps. However, the SW update is so slow compared to the rest of the competitors causing some software not able to load. It is also rather laggy but still in an acceptable range. ARC connection to my soundbar is "gittery" sometime can sometime cannot but have learn to live with it. If any fail just reboot the TV. Picture Quality is good. Design is sleek and of course the ambilight.

I have had three of these televisions - all replaced again and again under warranty after the HDMI ports stopped working. I write this review after yet another failure, as JB HIFI slowly runs out of the remaining Australian stock (Phillips have pulled out of the Australian market). Why have I opted to replace rather than remove up until now? The fundamentals are spot on: its got a stunning LCD panel surrounded by a frame that looks like it was designed by Apple, topped off by Ambilight - a truely cool feature. What lets this TV down is software. Most of the issues I have experienced come as a result of the archaic Android 5.1 distribution that Phillips has shoehorned into underpowered hardware and then abandoned. My TV shipped with 5 and auto updated to 5.1 but has seen no further update since. As a result I am left with a TV that can no longer run the latest apps or even features within the apps it does have, and some apps such as ABC iView aren't even available. The built in Chomecast also doesn't work. Fortunately the TV has four standard HDMI ports. To enjoy the aforementioned features without any of the software woes, I use my computer or games console. A couple of weeks in I turn the TV on one afternoon to find a black screen on all of my HDMI inputs, once again they had stopped working, forcing me back to the barely functional smart tv software. At this point I don't want another replacement and will be seeking a full refund. I will be attempting to import one of their new OLED models running Android 6.

Frankly speaking, this brand doesn't come into my mind when i was planning to get a TV. However was attracted by it ambilight resulting in wanting to know more on this product. Did some research and realize that it was an Android TV and the remote control have a keyboard function behind for assisting in surfing the net. This resulting me in give a chance to try out this brand as i no need to get an addition android box and i can have the function build into it. However, I was wrong. Having an build in android function have greatly reduce the speed of the TV. Resulting lagging occur when i was changing the TV channel/ Android program. I also understanding that this was an European brand. Therefore the pre-loaded application we also cater for Europe. eventually i still have to remove the program to reduce the lag. Although this was an android TV, it does seem to support some of the android program that is use for an android box. Eventually, i still have to get an external android box. The function to surf the net and the remote control were also not user friendly.

software upgrade is slow compare to Europe similar model 55PUS7101 which is already at android 7.1.2. This model is still currently at android 6. there i not much focus on software for philips tv..
